Summer like it used to be…

Slow. Friendly. Relaxed.

Big Bend Lodge is a small 1940’s resort that sits on a remote and idyllic section of the South Fork of the Eel River in Mendocino County.  While the outside world may have changed, not much in our neck of the woods has.  Our cabins are still cozy and comfortable places to prepare meals, relax, shower and sleep after a long day playing in the river or exploring the towering redwood groves and other nearby attractions.

At the end of a private road with nothing across the river but rugged cliffs and forest, Big Bend Lodge is a favorite destination of couples, groups and families looking to relax at our main beach and swimming hole or more privately at one of our many secluded spots amongst our fourteen acres of river front property. Open Memorial Day through Labor Day and by special arrangement.

Summer on Our Private Section of the Eel River

Cottage style cabin with freestanding fireplace

The South Fork of the Eel River is nationally designated as a Wild and Scenic River

Most recently known as River’s Run Lodge, the property was purchased by several families who have been vacationing together here for over a decade.  The return to the original name is our way of celebrating the long and happy history of this very special place.
