Summer like it used to be...

Slow. Friendly. Relaxed.

Big Bend Lodge is a small 1940's resort that sits on a remote and idyllic section of the South Fork of the Eel River in Mendocino County. While the outside world may have changed, not much in our neck of the woods has.  Our cabins are still cozy and comfortable places to prepare meals, relax, shower and sleep after a long day playing in the river or exploring the towering redwood groves and other nearby attractions.

At the end of a private road with nothing across the river but rugged cliffs and forest, Big Bend Lodge has been a favorite destination for over seventy years. Come relax at our main beach and swimming hole or at one of our many secluded spots amongst our fourteen acres of river front property.

Here's what a guest had to say on her blog:

We had an amazing “camping” trip at the Big Bend Lodge on the Eel River in Leggett, CA a little over 3 hours north of the Bay Area. I say “camping” because they have little two room cabins you rent to stay there. It’s ideal for families and even more ideal for groups. We recently stayed with a group of six families. The adults had a fantastic time as did the kids. The loveliness of real beds and kitchens with refrigerators made the trip a breeze. An added bonus is that you can bring your puppy along for the trip. Our 1 year old labradoodle, Mina, had a fantastic time on the grounds playing with resident yellow lab, Biscuit.

Most recently known as River's Run Lodge, the property was purchased by several families who have been vacationing together here for over a decade.  The return to the original name is our way of celebrating the long and happy history of this very special place.
